Is Twitter the most narcissistic social media platform ever? Walt Stokes is quite the entrepreneur. Out of an Austin warehouse, he runs three successful operations to include: a fulfillment company, e-commerce platform design, and the incredibly sarcastic Despair, Inc. Despair makes crass shirts, calendars, hats, you name it. So it shouldn’t surprise you that when we made a trip over to the warehouse to discuss operations for SICFIT, Walt introduced the above shirt design.
He said that I would understand it as well as anyone. I got a laugh out of it but then I got to thinking, is the definition of “social“ changing because of its role in social media? If being social means that we are relating to those around us, we are potentially escalating our own narcissism by spending more time in communication with those that delve into continuous posturing and self-promotion. Funny shirt, sobering reality?
